Gran Duo Italiano는 2011년 음악학 연구와 이탈리아 미술과 음악 유산의 재발견과 가치 향상에
대한 공로로 수여하는 유럽연합 내 최고 권위의 Mediterraneo 상을 수상했다. Angela Meluso와
Mauro Tortorelli로 구성된 Grand Duo Italiano는 세련된 감성과 탁월한 기교로 Mario
Castelnuovo Tedesco의 음악을 해석한 Brilliant Classics 음반을 발매했다. Brilliant Classics
음반 안에는 각각 18곡이 수록된 3개의 CD가 들어 있다.
Gran Duo Italiano는 올해 서거 50 주년을 맞이하는 피렌체 출신의 위대한 작곡가 Mario
Castelnuovo-Tedesco를 기념하기 위해 이번 음반 세트 냈다. 음반 안에는 이미 대중에게 알려진
곡들과 함께 미발표 작품도 다수 수록되어 있다. 이 가운데 비올라와 피아노를 위한 La Suite 508은
전 세계적으로 처음으로 녹음된 곡이다.
이번 프로젝트는 Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco 작곡가의 딸인 Diana Castelnuovo Tedesco와의
만남으로 시작되었다. Diana Castelnuovo Tedesco는 워싱턴 소재 미국 의회 도서관에 보관 된
Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco의 자료를 사용해서 바이올린과 피아노를 위한 곡, 그리고 비올라와
피아노를 위한 곡을 사용하여 녹음 작업을 할 수 있도록 허가하였다. 이번 콘서트 프로그램에는
Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco에게 헌정 된 음반 모음집 가운데 Grand Duo Italiano가 연주하고
녹음한 곡들도 포함되어 있다.
Francesco Maschio 음악가는 Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco CD의 소책자 노트를 담당한
큐레이터이다. 그는 아래와 같은 글을 남겼다.
“적어도 이탈리아에서 Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco의 명성은 기타 연주곡 작곡가로 30년동안
이어진 기타리스트 Andrés Segovia와의 유대 관계와 밀접한 관련이 있다. 20 세기의 기타
레퍼토리는 피렌체 출신의 음악가인 Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco 곡들로 확실히 풍부해졌지만,
이는 그의 작품 활동의 일부분만을 구성한다.
그는 실제로 다양한 장르의 음악을 작곡했는데, 이 중에는 뮤지컬과 오페라를 위한 곡, 발레곡 등이
있으며, 오케스트라를 위한 곡과 실내악, 기악 그리고 성악을 위한 곡들이 존재한다. 아르투로
토스카니니 (Arturo Toscanini) 또한 Castelnuovo Tedesco를 존경했던 인물 중 한 명이었다.
뉴욕 필하모닉을 지휘하던 아르투로 토스카니니는 작곡가가 미국을 방문하기에 앞서, 몇 해 전에
이미 미국 관중들에게 Castelnuovo Tedesco의 교향곡을 제시한 바가 있다. 첫 공연으로는
바이올린을 위한 곡을 Jascha Heifetz와 선보였고, Gregor Piatigorsky와 첼로 연주곡을 미국
관중들에게 들려주었다. 실제로 아르투로 토스카니니가 미국에서 지휘를 한 이탈리아계 현대음악
작곡가 곡으로는 Castelnuovo Tedesco 곡들이 유일하다. 40년 동안 Castelnuovo Tedesco가
남긴 방대한 양의 실내악곡들은 바이올린과 피아노를 위한 곡들이 많은 비중을 차지한다.

바이올린_ Mauro Tortorelli 마우로 토르토렐리
마우로 토르토렐리(Mauro Tortorelli)는 깊이 있는 곡 해석 능력과 보기 드문 음악적 소질을 가진
거장으로 평론가들에게 평가를 받는다. 스승인 G. Monch과 듀엣으로 연주 한 Luigi Nono의
2대의 바이올린을 위한 곡이 그의 데뷔곡이다. 그는 국제적으로 유명한 음악 기관에서 초청을
받아 연주를 했다. 초대 기관으로는 Slovak 필하모니아, European Youth 챔버 오케스트라, 더블린
필하모닉, 로마의 Sala Sinopoli, 볼라냐의 아카데미아 필하모니카, 라벨로 페스티벌, 잘츠브루크의
Schlosskonzerte, 워싱턴 케네디 센터, Sala Conservatorio di Mosca, 빈에 쇤베르크 센터가 있다.
마우로 토르토렐리는 J.J. Kantorow, B. Belkin, F. Gulli 그리고 G. Monch에게 바이올린
사사했다. 그는 F. Maggio Ormezowski, Rohan De Saram, Francois Joel Thioller, Alexandra
Gutu, Franco Petracchi, Alfonso Ghedin, Daishin Kashimoto와 같이 전 세계적으로 유명한
아티스트들과 협연하고, 모스크바의 차이코프스키 음악원, 두바이 음악원, Kazan 음악학교와
아이치 대학교에서 마스터 클래스를 진행했다.

피아노_ Angela Meluso 안젤라 메루소
1 9 8 2년에 태어난 안젤라 메루소( A n g e l a Me l u s o )는 G i a como F u g a 의 지도하에
아레산드리아의 A. Vivaldi 음악원을 최고 점수를 받고 졸업했다. 그녀는 최고 피아니스트로
제 ‘11회 Ghislieri 상’을 수상했으며, Lazar Berman, Vincenzo Balzani, E. Bagnoli,
M. Tortorelli, 그리고 Trieste 트리오와 연주하면서 피아노와 실내악 연주의 전문성을 키워갔다.
안젤라 메루소는 비엔나의 ‘Beethovengedenkstatte’, 티라나의 ‘국제 현대 음악제’를 비롯하여
유수의 이탈리아 극장에서 콘서트를 열었다. 그녀가 협업을 하는 기관과 연주자로는 Guido
Arbonelli, Loris Antiga, 나폴리의 ‘Teatro San Carlo 그리고 로마의 ‘Santa Cecilia’가 있다.
그녀는 피아니스트로서 훌륭한 기질과 소통 능력이 강한 터치와 뛰어난 곡 해석 능력으로 높이 평가
된다. 또한 안젤라 메루소는 음악 읽기 교육 방법인 ‘Solfeggianimando’ 교수법의 개발자다. 

The Gran Duo Italiano

The Gran Duo Italiano, Mauro Tortorelli violinist and Angela Meluso pianista, propose you a program-concert on Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's works for violin and piano and a presentation of new cd by rare manuscript of the composer.

In 2011, the Gran Duo was awarded one of the European Union’s highest accolades, the “Premio Mediterraneo”, in recognition of their research, rediscovery and promotion of Italy’s artistic and musical heritage.

This year, 2018, infact, in the 50° anniversary of the death of the great composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco born in Florence, the Gran Duo Italiano will record for Brilliant Classics Label the integral of the works for violin and piano and will hold a special commemorative concert to Florence at the Lyceum Club on March 16th.

The Gran Duo Italiano just performed the Castelnuovo-Tedesco's works for violin and piano in Berlin (Retrospective Castelnuovo Tedesco / Italian Institute of Culture), in Malta (International Festival of Gozo) and at Lyceum Club in Florence (where Castelnuovo- Tedesco held concerts and where his library is present). In 2018, the Gran Duo Italiano will record for Brilliant Classics Label the integral of the works for violin and piano and will hold a special commemorative concert to Florence at the Lyceum Club on March 16th.

Mauro Tortorelli

Mauro Tortorelli is considered by critics to be a virtuoso violinist of rare musical instinct and great interpretative skill. He studied violin with J.J.Kantorow, B.Belkin, F.Gulli and G.Mönch. In 1990, while still very young, he made his debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan playing a piece for two violins composed by Luigi Nono alongside his teacher G.Mönch. He works closely with artists of international standing such as F. Maggio Ormezowski, Rohan De Saram, Francois Joel Thioller, Alexandra Gutu, Franco Petracchi, Alfonso Ghedin, Daishin Kashimoto. He held Master Class at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow, at the Aichi University (Japan) and in Dubai Conservatoire. He recorded for Tactus Label, Naxos, Brilliant, Camerata Tokyo, Nuova Era, Stradivarius.

Angela Meluso

Angela Meluso began studying piano at age five and she graduated with honours at the Conservatory of Music “A. Vivaldi” of Alessandria under Giacomo Fuga. She won the eleventh edition of the “Premio Ghislieri” coming first in the piano section. She has attended specialization studies at the Accademia in Florence with Lazar Berman, at the Accademia Hipponiana of Reggio Calabria with Vincenzo Balzani and for chamber music with Mauro Tortorelli, Giacomo Fuga, E. Bagnoli, Trio di Trieste and Trio di Parma (DuinoAccademy). She works closely with musicians such as Guido Arbonelli, Loris Antiga (horn player with the London Symphony Orchestra), and with the lead players of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and “Santa Cecilia” in Rome. Considered by critics to be a pianist of great character, interpretative sensitivity and communicative skill, she is also the author of Solfeggianimando, a method for teaching music, published in 2008 by Edizioni Zaccara.
